Creating Users and Groups in Server 2016

 

Log into your server 








Press the Windows + S key and type Server Manager and select it 




At this point in is worthwhile to right click on the server manager on the taskbar and select pin to taskbar for ease of access for future use







If you have the yellow triangle warning symbol at the top click this and select Windows Server Essentials 


Click configure










Preparing the server can take upto 30 minutes but can be minimized whilst you do the next task







Select tools - Active Directory Users and Computers 






Highlight your domain




Right click on the domain select new then select group







Type the group name as Burnley and click ok






Right click on the domain again and click new and click user






Type a user name of a friend or family that you will remember







Type a password for the user and ensure user must change the password at next login, click next







Click finish





Right click on the users name and select add to a group


Add to the group Burnley - Clicking check names will verify the group and underlines it if it's ok. Click ok.





If you right click on the users name and click properties









Select member of,  you should see that the user is now a member of both Domain users and Burnley groups






Right click on the user and click properties 



Click member of and Add


Type Domain Admins ( Check Names to verify ) and click ok 




Add a computer  - Right click on Computers , Click New , Click Computer 






Type PC1 and click OK 




The computer should show in the computers window now
